To those new to the world of The Southern Vampire Mysteries series, True Blood and their authors (Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball respectively) the first part of this introductory section will be useful to learn something about them and become more familiar with the supernatural universe created by Harris and brought on screen by Ball.
The myth of vampires
Vampires have been a part of the mythological creatures ensemble for a very long time. However, over the centuries, vampires changed a lot; from animal-like creatures they became fascinating gentlemen, although still retaining some common elements with their predecessors.
In this second introductory part it will be shown how vampires were found in the folklore of different countries even before the word to define them existed, how XVIII century vampires differ from modern vampires and finally which elements all vampires have in common.
