Final Fantasy X-2

Final Fantasy X-2 was the first sequel to a Final Fantasy game and it came out in 2003. Unlike Final Fantasy X, its sequel gives the player much more control: most of the places can be visited from the beginning of the game and there are many secondary missions. Final Fantasy X-2 also re-introduces the classic character class system with the use of dresspheres and it is one of the very few games of the Final Fantasy saga featuring multiple endings.

Final Fantasy X-2 is set two years after Final Fantasy X. After seeing a video of someone who could possibly be Tidus, Yuna joins a sphere hunting group in order to find more information on the subject. The group also includes her cousin Rikku and Paine. During her travels, Yuna has to face the growing tension between Spira’s political factions. Things get worse when they discover a hidden weapon capable of wiping out Spira and that someone is trying to use it….

Shuyin

Shuyin is one of my favourite characters in Final Fantasy X-2 (the others being Lenne and Gippal). I usually like villains, but with Final Fantasy it has always been different. Some villains seemed to pop up from nowhere, other seemed straightforward weird (see the woman who looks like a man, commonly known as Sorcess Adel). Shuyin instead has a great background story, and he is actually a villain you can emphasize with.

Even if he is the final boss, he is not really evil. After being alone and angry for more than one thousand years, he takes the wrong path. In the end however, what Shuyin wants is not power nor money, but just being able to rest with the woman he loves, Lenne.
