Hello and welcome to Odi et Amo, a text-only shrine dedicated to the relationship between Asuka Sohryu Langley and Shinji Ikari from Gainax’s Neon Genesis Evangelion (Shin Seiki Evangelion, 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン). During your stay, you will find information regarding Asuka and Shinji individually as well as in-depths of their relationship, from the beginning to the end of the series.

Before you start browsing, I would like to point out that Odi et Amo is based on the anime version of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I won’t delve into the details here, but I’ve dedicated a whole section to this matter so check it out to know the reasons behind this choice.

You can find the menu on your right. It should be quite self-explanatory, but in case you need more information take a look at the Table of Contents section, which has detailed descriptions of the various contents provided at Odi et Amo.

Some pages feature notes and quotes , just hover your mouse on the icon to read the content of the note/quote :)

Odi et Amo was designed on a Mac and tested in the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox and Safari. It was also tested in Internet Explorer 7 and 8 using a simulator. Suggested screen resolution is 1280×960, 1280×800 or higher.

Despite this website defends the “romantic” aspect of the couple, essays are based on facts shown in the anime. Yet, even if they stem from evidence, they are my own interpretation.

Obviously, people are entitled to have their own opinion and either support or don’t support Asuka and Shinji as a couple. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. Personally, I think that there must be a reason if the writers made this decision so I would like to analyse if and why they could work as a couple.

One last thing. Although I did provide some background information, it would be better to have a basic knowledge of at least the 26 anime episodes. Being familiar with the series will help to understand better the contents of some sections, the essays in particular.

With that said, I hope you will enjoy your visit :)
