After Zeromus’ defeat, Rydia decided to return to the Feymarch. She leaves briefly only to attend Cecil and Rosa ‘s wedding.
Rydia’s choice confirms once again how much she feels at home there. With Mist destroyed and with the experience she made there during her first stay, the Feymarch truly became Rydia’s first home:
Eidolon King: She has become a fine young woman indeed.
Asura: And to think she would return here, to us!
Eidolon: Rydia! Rydia, why do I have fangs? I want to be the same as you!
Rydia: What do you mean? We’re all the same! There’s no difference between humans and Eidolons.
Asura: The Feymarch is going to become a very interesting place in the days ahead, isn’t it?
Eidolon King: Most certainly – and one not lacking for beauty!
Rydia: All that matters is what’s inside us. Isn’t that right, Cecil?
This time however, Queen Asura believes Rydia should live with her kind although she is happy to see Rydia again so she sends her back to the normal world. Seventeen years after the events which took place in Final Fantasy IV, Rydia is shown in Mist. There she is helping with the reconstruction and rebuilding of her hometown. She also builds a monument to honour the memory of her mother, a gravestone where these words were engraved: “Here lies the motherly summoner who protected our village.”.
One day, Rydia pays a visit to her second home to meet some old friends, but after a short conversation with King Bahamut and Queen Asura she is sent to the upper level of the Feymarch. Looking around she notices everyone has been petrified and no Eidolon answers her call. Unsure on what to do, she returns to the throne room and is stunned at the sight of petrified Eidolons. Back to the normal world, she meets Luca1 and when they arrive at the Dwarven Castle they find out that the it has been attacked by the Red Wings and that all but one of the Dark Crystals have been stolen by a girl who has her same power2. In order to protect the remaining crystal, she teams up with Luca and together they set out to the Sealed Cave.
- Luca makes a brief appearance in Final Fantasy IV where she is the daughter of King Giott. She is the keeper of the key to the Sealed Cave, where the Dark Crystal is, and of the Calcabrina dolls, two puppets Golbez takes control of in order to steal the dwarves’ crystal. [↩]
- This girl is normally referred to as Mysterious Girl. It will be later discovered that the girl actually belongs to a group of villains called Maenads. Throughout the game a few Maenads appear but they all use the same name. [↩]
