Conclusion?

After visiting the Feymarch, the party goes to the Sealed Cave in order to retrieve the last Dark Crystal before Golbez does. However, Golbez manages to regain control of Kain who, after knocking Cecil out, steals the Crystal and leaves.

With all the Crystals in Golbez’s hands, the only solution is to go back to Mysidia, where the Elder has been praying for the return of the Lunar Whale. The Lunar Whale, also called “Ship of Light from The Moon,” is a special ship which will allow the party to reach the Red Moon, where Rydia can obtain her final summon, Bahamut.

After completing the optional dungeon, the storyline continues. On the Moon, the party meets a man, a Lunarian to be more exact, called Fusoya, who explains them the truth behind Golbez and the theft of the crystals. Golbez is actually controlled by another Lunarian: Zemus. Zemus’ aim is to gather all the crystals in order to activate the Giant of Babil, a sort of robot that can grant any kind of wish which, in Zemus’ case, would be the destruction of the Earth.

When the party returns to the Earth with Fusoya it is already too late. The Giant has already awakened and has begun to destroy anything he finds on his way. While Cid and his army keep the Giant busy, the party enters it and make way for the main computer. When they defeat the CPU, Golbez appears and is ready to attack them. Fusoya however knocks him back to reality and, with much surprise, it is discovered that Golbez is actually Cecil’s brother. Returned to his senses Golbez and Fusoya go back to the Moon to fight Zemus and the party follows them.

After boarding the Lunar Whale, Cecil asks Rydia (and Rosa) to leave the ship and Edge urges her to do what she is asked. While saddened by Cecil’s request, she complies with it and leave. At least apparently because Rydia and Rosa actually managed to hide in the Lunar Whale. On board, Rydia convinces Cecil that she must take part to the final battle as well because, aside from personal reasons, they all share the desire to fight to save the world. Also, being the only summoner left, her help will certainly come handy. Once they arrive to the Lunar Core they see Fusoya and Golbez fighting against Zemus and eventually they defeat it. The hatred inside Zemus however is so strong that takes a form on its own and turns into another boss, Zeromus.
