Lenne and Yuna
When Lenne died her thoughts remained linked with the dressphere she was using; the Songstress. A thousand years passed before someone found the dressphere and began to use it again: Yuna. There are a lot of similarities between them: both were summoners, both were singers and, more significantly, both lost their beloved one.
Due to all these links, Lenne is sympathetic with Yuna and when she wears the Songstress Dressphere, Lenne’s thoughts sometimes surface. Little by little Lenne’s thoughts begin to mix with Yuna’s, influencing both her actions and mind. Here we have a few examples of these occurrences:
- Chapter 1, Luca: Yuna begins to dance wildly.
- Chapter 2: Yuna’s dream of her and Tidus being shot.
- Chapter 3, Farplane: when she meets Shuyin, Yuna feels uncomfortable and would want to leave but Lenne’s thoughts prevents her from doing that.
- Chapter 4, Thunder Plains: there is a projection of Lenne’s memories while Yuna sings.
In Chapter 2, under the influence of Lenne’s memories, Yuna has a strange dream: she and Tidus are running away from someone, then they end up in a big area and are being shot. However, there is a difference between what happened in reality (to Shuyin and Lenne) and what Yuna dreams. Lenne arrived just in time to dissuade Shuyin from using Vegnagun and then they were both shot. The images of Tidus and Yuna (in Shuyin and Lenne’s stead) never took place, it was merely a consequence of Yuna’s own memories blending with the memories Lenne was sending her through the dressphere.
Shuyin and Tidus
A lot about Shuyin echoes Tidus: his look, his voice (indeed he has the same voice actor) and his personality. Similar, yet not the same. Shuyin is a real man who lived in Zanarkand at the time of the Machina War. Tidus instead was unreal, a dream of the fayths who was born in their summoned Dream Zanarkand about one thousand years after Shuyin’s death.
