After the shooting, some flashbacks of their moments together were played. They showed Shuyin’s first attempt at using Vegnagun. Then the setting changed; Shuyin was outside, during a sunset. He turned around and happily smiled at Lenne, who smiled back.

They fell to the ground; Shuyin face first, Lenne on her back. Shuyin stretched out his arm, lifting his hand, hoping to reach Lenne’s, but he couldn’t. Lenne moved her hand too, she looked at Shuyin and cried. She tried to say something, her final words might have been happy ones “I love you…”, but Shuyin never heard them.

While Lenne and Shuyin faced their death in Bevelle, Zanarkand, as expected, was losing the war. A summoner by the name of Yevon¹, gathered the survivors on the top of Mt. Gagazet and turned them into fayths. The fayths created a replica of their city, Dream Zanarkand, in order to preserve its memory. At the same time Yevon created Sin, a shell for him, the fayths and their summoned city.

When the armies of Bevelle arrived at Mt. Gagazet, they heard a song echoing across the slopes. The soldiers panicked and ran. It was then that Sin appeared for the first time, he pursued the retreating armies leaving no survivors. A second expedition managed to reach the summit, from there soldiers saw the ruins of the once great Zanarkand. Yevon was thought to be responsible for Zanarkand’s destruction and the creation of Sin. Bevelle began to fear Yevon’s wrath, they accepted his teachings and began to spread them in the hope of appeasing him.

Shuyin awoke sometime after, finding himself to be alone. He was confused, he and Lenne had disappeared together, yet he was alone now. His search for Lenne began. As he wandered Spira, he realized that nothing had changed. Everyone was still fighting, people were still hurting each other for futile motives.

Shuyin decided to take on the matter and clean things up. Since his quest for Lenne hadn’t been successful so far, he convinced himself that if all Spira disappeared he would have finally been able to fade with her and all the wars would end.
