Shuyin and Lenne’s story takes place one thousand years before the events of Final Fantasy X.

Both of them were from Zanarkand, there Shuyin was a star Blitzball player, while Lenne was a summoner. However, at that time there was no Sin so summoners didn’t go on pilgrimage. Besides, since Zanarkand was at peace there was no need for summoners. Lenne pursued a second career as a singer and she became very popular.

Famous, young and in love: Shuyin and Lenne had everything they could hope for, all they wanted was to live quietly and peacefully for the rest of their life. Unfortunately for them, peace didn’t last very long because a war broke out between their city and Bevelle shortly after they met. If that alone wasn’t enough, Bevelle was the expected winner since it possessed an invincible weapon. Even though both cities were technologically advanced, Zanarkand solely relayed on summoners and their Aeons to fight. Against Bevelle’s machines Zanarkand’s army was going to be outmatched.

As a summoner, Lenne was sent to the front lines. She accepted a certain death in order to abide by her role, being able to protect her people was more important than saving her own life. Lenne was ready to give up a life full of promise if that meant to give a future to those she loved.

On the other hand, Shuyin wasn’t as much as happy. Unlike Lenne, he refused to accept her fate, he didn’t want her to sacrifice her life and decided to take every necessary action to prevent his beloved from dying.
