During her travels, Yuna comes across another sphere, which allows her to change into a singer (Songstress Dressphere). Shortly after possessing this new sphere, Yuna has a strange dream.

She sees herself with Tidus, running along the corridors of some unknown place. Soldiers are chasing them and she is very scared. Then they arrive in a strange chamber; the place is dark at first, but then the lights turn on. The soldiers have caught up with them, they look at each other and Yuna starts to cry. Shots are fired, they fell on the floor. Tidus is turned the other way, Yuna tries to reach out her hand to him, but fails. While soldiers leave the room a mysterious machine is shown in the background.

Meanwhile, Shuyin has been following through with his plans.

Shortly before the actual beginning of Final Fantasy X-2, Yevon trained people interested in entering the Crimson Squad¹. The squad final exercise was held in a cave beneath Mushroom Rock Road called Den of Woe. Within the cave, the candidates were swarmed by the many pyreflies residing there and driven to kill one another. The only survivors were Paine, Baralai, Gippal and Nooj. It was then that Shuyin entered the death-seeking heart of Nooj. On one of drills, Nooj began to act strange, but no one was aware that he had been possessed.

Finally having a body under his control, Shuyin set forth for activating Vegnagun.
