Transition
Only two years have passed since the events of Final Fantasy X, but what Yuna and Co. accomplished brought many changes in the world of Spira.
With Sin out of the picture, the Eternal Calm started. Yevon priest decided to tell the truth about the order and let the population decide whether to continue following Yevon’s preaches or not. Several new political parties have been established, but the most important ones are the Youth League, whose leader is Mevyn Nooj, the New Yevon Party, led by Praetor Baralai and finally the Machine Faction, a group of Al-Bhed led by Gippal.
Along with Sin, the fear of machina is gone and the Al-Bhed are no longer seen as traitors of Yevon. People enjoy themselves attending musical concerts or playing blitzball. Another popular activity is treasure hunting. There are especially many sphere hunters, groups specialized in looking for old spheres in caves and ruins.
Young people were quick to abandon Yevon and join the Youth League, longing of Spira’s development. Others, felt that changes were happening too quickly and decided to stick with the New Yevon Party. Its motto “One thing at time” perfectly sums up their point of view.
And Yuna? Well, at first she retired on the island of Besaid and daily met with Spira’s citizens. However, one day her cousin Rikku showed her a sphere found by her former guardian, Kimhari, on Mt. Gagazet. The images of the sphere showed a man bearing a strong resemblance to Tidus, locked-up in a prison room. Rikku convinces Yuna to join the Gullwings, the sphere hunter group formed by Brother, and find more about the matter. Along the way, Yuna and Rikku meet Paine, who then joins them and together they form the group Yu-Ri-Pa (Yuna-Rikku-Paine).
