[MULTI] Summer Marathons Results

Date: October 30th, 2011 | Site: Asuka & Shinji, Eric Northman, Light Yagami, Rydia, Serial Experiments Lain, Shuyin, The Wired, Zell Dincht | Status: , , | No Comments »

Short preamble: I was supposed to publish this post back in September, but then I got busy with some IRL stuff so…I forgot it -__- Anyway, here it is now.

Since the last update two marathons were held at Amassment and, needless to say, I participated to both of them. I combined the results of these marathons in one post since they both dealt with shrines.

For the banner trade marathon the following shrines received new buttons: Ab Intra; I Miss You; Nymph; Odi et Amo; Shades of Grey; Weird. A special thanks goes to Ava; Crystal; Destinie; dubiousdisc; Juhi; Michelle; and Stefi who donated the buttons.

For the link drive meme instead, many shrines of mine either received new affiliates or made link exchanges with other shrines. Here is the complete list:

Outside the link meme, but still regarding affiliation, Nocturne was affiliated with Lunar Shadow, Brittany’s Yuna shrine, which I already had on my link list.

All the shrines mentioned above have also been added on The Wired. I may left out one or two sites, but they will be added soon because I’m planning to do a quick link update/cleaning in between the other things I have on my (incredibly long) to-do list. (Sigh…so much to do, so little time ;__;).

Fanlistings affiliations (both done trough the meme and outside the meme) will be covered in another post (along with some *tentative* adoptions…maybe :P).

Coming up: fanlisting collective post regarding affiliations/adoptions, network fall/winter projects plan

[FL-COLL] Two new fanlistings

Date: September 2nd, 2011 | Site: Fanlisting Collective | Status: , | No Comments »
Music: Enya - Aniron

After many years spent giving away many of my fanlistings and making a huge downsize operation, I happened to come across two removed fanlistings I couldn’t resist to apply for. And I was lucky enough to be approved for both /yay for me :D But first a short announcement regarding an old fanlisting.

Browsing The Fanlistings, I noticed a change in Aeris/Aerith’s “official” name. The name now adopted is no longer Aeris, but Aerith. After all Aeris it was used only in the English version of Final Fantasy VII, while Aerith was adopted in all the other Final Fantasy VII-related videogames. In order to reflect this change I moved the fanlisting and it can now be found at: http://fan.sohryu.nu/aerith.

Members still have to be notified about the change, but I have already sent an update info form so the change should soon be made official :) I didn’t change the codes, though. I know some fans want to use Aeris so I left the codes with “Aeris” as they were, at least for now. I haven’t decided yet whether to change them or make a few new batches of codes with different images.

And now for the new fanlistings…

Archimage, the first fanlisting, is dedicated to Rydia and it is partnered with my Rydia shrine, Nymph. I was actually approved a few months ago (April, I think), but I never plugged it because…*cough* the layout was terribly hideous =__= Or rather, I didn’t have enough time to properly finish it and it ended up being quite rough. It looked as if something was missing so a few days ago I decided to improve it and I’m now very pleased with the outcome!

I also added two new series of buttons, in all the common sizes: 50×50, 75×50, 88×31, 100×35 and 100×50.

The second fanlisting, Bin Bons, is dedicated to British actor Ben Barnes, who you might know for his role of Prince Caspian (and later King Caspian), in the Narnia film series. Since I spent most of August making buttons for Amassment‘s Banner Trade Meme1, I didn’t have enough time to make many buttons in all the sizes usually used. I did however make 10 buttons in both 50×50 and 75×50 and, of course, I plan to add matching buttons in all the other sizes very soon.

Both fanlistings are open to affiliation requests so if you own a related fanlisting (Final Fantasy series/characters for Rydia; general actors, films in which Ben has starred or characters related to the ones he portrayed on screen), mail me :)

Oh Poison!‘s owned page has been updated to include these new fanlistings and each of them has its own about page. Speaking of Oh Poison!…remember to sign up on my KIM list if you would be interested in running any of the fanlistings I own.

I must say I’m satisfied with the ones I now have in my collective, but with these recent, wonderful, approvals I might let one or two go. And even if I don’t do it now, people on my KIM list always have first dib. I don’t normally post at the The Fanlistings board if I already have a good number of people interested so getting listed definitely improves your chances of being chosen in a future adoption scenario ;)

  1. Awesome meme by the way, I wonder what was I doing last year at the time it was held…:/ []

[LAS] New location and content

Date: August 13th, 2011 | Site: Asuka & Shinji | Status: , , | No Comments »
Music: Mozart - Die Zauberflöte (K. 620, Act 2: Arie: Der Hölle Rache Kocht In Meinem Herzen)

It was about time! After being online for almost two years, Odi et Amo finally received its first, serious update.

First of all, the shrine has moved to a new location and it can now be found at: http://sohryu.nu/otp/. It is like the old address, only without the eva subdomain. This doesn’t mean I’m dropping Project E. The only reason why I opted for the move is that having the shrine under the main domain (hence under the same script I use to manage all my other shrines) will make it easier for me to keep it up to date.

The layout is still the same, except for the menu. A while ago some people reported me about having troubles with the script I was using so I replaced it with a new one which should, hopefully, work just fine in any browser. I also did some minor changes to the stylesheet and replaced the old footnotes with fancy, JQuery-based tooltips.

Now, onto the content update…

  • all the old sections were revised and checked against typos, errors, and the like
  • the Story section was heavily updated with many new pages: it now covers all the 26 episodes of the anime with a total of 6 pages added
  • the Verbal, Episode Guide and Gender pages were also updated to include the quotes, episode synopsis and Angels of the new episodes analysed (15, 16, 18 and 22)
  • the Media section hasn’t been opened yet (I’ll probably leave it for the next update), but all the pages in the Story section feature a few selected caps to show important interactions between Asuka and Shinji
  • the Links section was purged of many dead links, but a few more couple shrines were added to the list so that should even things out :)

Since I still have no affiliates, affiliation is open to any site related to the Evangelion franchise or any couple shrine in general (anime, manga, videogame…it doesn’t matter as long as it is dedicated to two characters).

And that is all for today. Network-wise I may update another old shrine before moving on some new (and still undecided) shrine projects. I do have two fanlistings on my upcoming list (well, technically it would be only one but since I haven’t plugged the second yet because of its ugly layout I count it as unfinished :P) so those are my priority right now!

Coming up: I have a few more pages planned and there is still that Media section to do…

[GALLERY] Two new albums

Date: August 10th, 2011 | Site: Gallery, Jack & Sally, Serial Experiments Lain | Status: , | No Comments »

Silhouette has been recently updated with two new albums.

The first new album was created for Weird, the one-page shrine dedicated to Serial Experiments Lain. So far, this album has all the four Lain artbooks scanned, plus a few pencil sketches downloaded from the official site, which are no longer available. For downloading purposes, most of the images scanned (not the sketches, they come in their original size) were greatly resized. I did however leave them large enough to make wallpapers/big arts and, of course, they are perfect to be used in small arts such as icons and buttons.

At the moment there aren’t any caps. As I have already anticipated in Weird‘s launch post, it’s likely that some errors occurred (without me noticing it) when I converted the episodes taken from the DVD, in files I could load from my HD. Needless to say, I do plan to take the caps again and add them to the gallery. I still don’t know when I will do that since I still have lots of things to do this month.

There are however caps in the second album added to Silhouette. I Miss You now has a gallery with HD caps from my own copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I decided to cap the entire film and not only the Jack/Sally scenes since I couldn’t find any HD caps online.

On the technical side, Zenphoto was upgraded to the latest version and everything went quite smooth (considering I didn’t notice my version was very outdated ^_^;;;). I also slightly modified the layout, but nothing major. A new layout is planned, not for now, though…as I said before I’ve got a lot on my plate!

That’s all for Silhouette, but I have much more in store for the other sites on the network (both old and new), so keep an eye on Hello Jupiter ;)

Coming up: I'm trying to expand the media section of all the shrines I own. As of yet, I don't know which site will I update next, but I would like to regularly update Silhouette with new content. And maybe a new layout :)

[SELAIN] One Page, One Month (Sort of…)

Date: August 3rd, 2011 | Site: Serial Experiments Lain | Status: , | No Comments »
Music: Syntax - Pride

First of all, I would like to say I’m sorry if anyone tried to visit the shrine yesterday, when the marathon’s reveal post was published, and found the site closed. I noticed there was a conflict between two of the scripts I was using and because of that the spoiler tag was…no longer hiding spoilers. I also had some troubles with the images I had uploaded (not my fault here, it was a server-related problem but I had to re-upload most of them).

It took me a while to sort those problems out, but everything should be working fine now!
Without further ado, here is my entry for Amassment‘s 2011 One Page, One Month marathon:

I wrote “sort of” because I didn’t work on it for a month. And if I had done that, I wouldn’t have had to rush to meet the deadline. Basically I was working on an old shrine of mine to prepare some new sections when I noticed I had less than two weeks to make a shrine from scratch. Organization and planning are usually my forte, clearly this case was an exception ^__^;;;

Serial Experiments Lain wasn’t the subject I had planned to shrine. To be honest, I hadn’t actually picked a subject, not until the day I submitted the form anyway…. I had a list with possible shrine subjects, but for a reason or another I was positive I wouldn’t have been able to use them for a shrine I had to prepare in about ten days. Eventually, the choice fell on Lain for two reasons.

Coming up: expand the Analogy section, add the caps.
